Over 45,000 winners to date in 2010, plus three Postcode Rollovers of
over £2 million are held across the year. £30,000 is won every week in our Street Prize, while all tickets in over 500 postcodes win prizes every week.
Charities
40p from every ticket benefits charities local to you, with all the money raised in the country staying in the country. A huge £9 million has been raised for good causes to date. That’s charities helping families, children, cancer patients and wildlife to name but a few. Your support makes an enormous difference.
Glossary of terms
General Terms
Postcode - whenever this is mentioned it means your full postcode, ie. AB1 2CD.
Postcode Sector - the first half of your postcode plus the next number. If your postcode is AB1 2CD, your postcode sector is AB1 2.
Ambassadors - public figures who endorse People's Postcode Lottery and the charities players support. Read about them all here.
Novamedia BV - an international charity operator and founder of People’s Postcode Lottery.
Charity Terms
Charity/Society Lottery - a charity or society lottery is a lottery. Members of the public buy tickets to benefit charitable causes with the added bonus of winning prizes.
Charity Partners - the charities proudly supported by People’s Postcode Lottery. In Scotland these are CHILDREN 1ST, Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres, Missing People (in Scotland), People’s Postcode Trust and Scottish Wildlife Trust. In England these are Children North East, Daisy Chain, Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centers, Missing People, Northumberland Wildlife Trust, People’s Postcode Trust, Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust and Yorkshire Wildlife Trust.
People’s Postcode Trust - the People’s Postcode Lottery’s independent charity. The Trust aims to make a real difference to small organisations and community groups across the UK. Grants of between £500- £10,000 are available. Visit www.postcodetrust.org.uk to find out more.
Unrestricted funding - the support our charity partners receive is unrestricted, meaning they are able to spend the money where it’s needed most.
Prize terms
Street Prize - the weekly People's Postcode Lottery prize. Players in one postcode (eg AB1 2CD) win a share of £30,000 and players in the same sector (eg AB1 2) share a further £5,000. Every week 500 postcodes also win £2.
Bonus Points - a loyalty points scheme guaranteeing more money for players who have played for longer. As soon as you start playing, you accumulate Bonus Points for the next 'Postcode Rollover'. Therefore, players with more points will win a greater share of the Rollover prize pot. Bonus Points are reset after each Postcode Rollover.
Bonus Streets - a weekly prize in which 15 postcodes are drawn. Each player in these postcodes wins £100 per ticket. Additional prizes are also available, with over 500 postcodes winning prizes every week.
Postcode Party Streets - as well as the Street Prize, 25 postcodes win £50 per ticket.
'Postcode Rollover' - a special rollover event that takes place three times a year. In this event a guaranteed huge prize pot will be shared amongst players in one lucky postcode. Previously, the ‘Postcode Rollover’ was known as the ‘Postcode Belter’ or ‘Postcode Jumbo’.
Ticket Terms
Subscription ticket - players who sign up by direct debit or credit card by phone, post or online play with subscription tickets. Players are automatically entered into the weekly draw and don’t need to worry about losing their ticket. Winnings are automatically transferred to the player’s bank account.
