Indescribable Win for Inverness Street!
Two neighbours were celebrating a Belter of a prize with each scooping a massive £28,344 and one of them driving away in a brand new Mini!
William Tolmie (71), of Kilmuir Road, IV3 8EN, was enjoying a quiet Saturday afternoon, with wife Rosemary, when Angus knocked on the door clutching their winnings of £28,344. The retired couple plan to spend their windfall on their first holiday in twenty years.
William said; "We decided to play People's Postcode Lottery to support the Scottish charities, we never dreamt of winning that amount of money! Now we can afford a much-needed holiday!"
William's neighbour, James Grant (64) was delighted enough when Street Prize Presenter, Angus Purden, surprised him with a cheque for just over £28k. "I'm just overwhelmed - thank you so much! Everything I've ever had in life I've had to work for, it's just unbelievable!"
Little did James know that there was another prize parked around the corner at the Postcode Lottery's Street Party - a brand new Mini! When he found out the Mini was his, he exclaimed; "I've never won anything before in my life - it's a beauty!"
The good fortune spread to a further 174 winning tickets in the surrounding neighbourhood that shared the Postcode Sector Prize of £5,000, with prizes ranging from £29 to £116. Neighbours joined the Street Prize celebrations receiving their cheques from Angus while enjoying ice cream in the sunshine and music from a local ceildih band.
