Missing People have launched a new 6.2 mile (10k) run called ‘Miles for Missing People’ which will take place in Hyde Park, London on Saturday March 13th 2010, sponsored by Friends Reunited.
Timed as a warm-up run for anyone planning to take part in the Virgin London Marathon, the event will bring together up to 1,000 families and friends of missing people, as they join together in Hyde Park to remember missing loved ones.
Kirsten O’ Brien, an ambassador of the charity, will be running the event in memory of her good friend and co-presenter Mark Speight who was missing for six days before tragically being found dead.
Kirsten said: “I have had a very personal experience of 'missing' and it is one of the hardest things I have ever gone through. The charity brings so much happiness into the lives of the people it reunites, and this is a great opportunity to make a real difference.”
Missing People provides support for missing children, vulnerable adults and families left in limbo. Last year the charity received more than 123,000 calls for help. To help them and other charities carry out their important work, subscribe today and raise funds for these great causes!
