For around 20 years 71 year old Olive Cook and 83 year old Margaret Lawson of Hebburn, South Tyneside have been extracting donations from young (and not so young) clubbers on a Friday and Saturday night for Children North East while entertaining them with their line dancing and colourful cowgirl outfits.
The pair were nominated for a Noel’s Christmas Present, resulting in the ladies being whisked off for a trip of a lifetime by TV presenter Noel Edmonds.
The ladies arrived in Nashville, Tennessee and had the time of their life - attending the Country Music Awards, receiving some brand new cowgirl gear, and meeting the Mayor and international superstar Dolly Parton!
The volunteers were delighted when Noel revealed his final present- a complete IT Suite for Children North East that will be installed in the West End Youth Enquiry Service when its refurbishment is complete later this year.
A great to way to follow Olive and Margaret's lead and support Children North East is to play the People's Postcode Lottery. Sign up today to start donating funds to help their great work!
