Bird fun takes flight with NWT this half term

29th January 2010

Northumberland Wildlife Trust will be hosting three bird activity sessions for children during half term week.

The events are all free and are being run through the SENSE Project which enables people from local communities in Blyth Valley and south east Northumberland to understand, appreciate and conserve their local environment on a number of sites in the area. All the events are being funded by the Banks Community Fund and supported by local volunteer groups.

A Feed the Birds Event takes place on Tuesday 16 February, between 1pm - 3pm at Plessey Woods. At the event, children will be able to make their own bird feeders to take home as well as taking part in quizzes and challenges.

Visit the Trust’s Holywell Pond Reserve on Wednesday 17 February, between 10.30am and 12.30pm and enjoy bird watching from the bird hides with experts on hand to lend a hand to identify the species spotted. There will also be the opportunity to make bat and bird boxes as well as bird feeders to take home.

The third bird event takes place on Thursday 18 February, between 1.00pm - 3.00pm at East Cramlington Local Nature Reserve. As with the Plessey Woods event, children will be able to make bird feeders and take part in feathery quizzes and challenges.

There is no need to book a place at any of the events but children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. For further information contact Laura Lowther at the Trust on: 0191 284 6884.
