Daisy Chain's Open Day on Bank Holiday Monday was made all the more special as Matt Simpson, Project Director, received a huge £37,892 cheque from the People's Postcode Lottery.
Daisy Chain is an autism charity with a difference, and not only helps autistic children but their carers, parents and siblings too. As Lesley, founder of the charity puts it, Daisy Chain aims to be "a haven for families affected by autism and special needs, a place where they can go and find something in life that gives them pleasure".
The Open Day was a fun filled event for all the family, with activities, games, and the opportunity to look around the centre and its farm, which hosts all kinds of animals, from Sampson the donkey (pictured) to pygmy goats and cockroaches!
The money raised so far will pay for the care of these animals, outings and the completion of a Day Care Centre, which will eventually host families overnight and provide a place for school care, day care and weekend activities.
