Louise Minchin

Ambassador for Missing People

Celebrating the support of players of the Peoples’ Postcode Lottery for the charity Missing People, we asked Louise Minchin, presenter of BBC One’s ‘Missing Live’ to tell us more about their valuable work.

"Can you imagine what it is like to have the person you love disappear without trace?

"Last year, 12,000 people in Scotland faced this reality. Thankfully the charity Missing People were there to answer every call for help from those affected.

"Presenting Missing Live – a BBC series made with the help of the charity – we set out to find missing people, and we did. More than 17 people were found during the series and many more subsequently. What really struck me during filming is that it doesn’t matter where you come from, how old you are, or how much money you have – you are almost helpless when someone you love goes missing.

"But there is one charity people in this situation can turn to -Missing People. Their staff and volunteers can help those families left in limbo to find support, and a missing child on the street to find a place of safety. Missing People do this 24 hours a day – every day of the year – and they never give up.

"The support of players of the People’s Postcode Lottery now means that more children can be reunited with their family, more vulnerable adults can be found safely and that we all have the peace of mind of knowing that if it happened to us, we would not be alone."
