Judie McCourt

Radio/TV Presenter and Postcode Lottery Ambassador

Judie McCourt

A favourite voice on the airwaves, Judie is also a favourite face on the doorstep as our Street Prize Presenter.

Judie, a presenter with TFM, appears outside the homes of Postcode Lottery players with golden cheques for up to £30,000 – and she can’t wait to give more money away!

“It’s the best job in the world,” she said. “I really love doing this, I’m such a softie!”

Judie has found out that most players support the lottery because it helps local charities “I’ve met some lovely people who have let us into their homes. Some of them have had such hard lives and winning makes such a difference to them – even though lots of them are simply thrilled to be able to give lots of it to families, friends and good causes. I feel really humbled meeting them.”

Judie said: “The Postcode Lottery do such a great job with charities. It’s a great thing to be involved in and I love meeting our winners.”

Judie comes from a close-knit family in Consett and now lives in Darlington with husband Chris where they’re doing up their new home together.

She said: “Chris was a friend of my brother’s and when I was ten I had a crush on him. Years later we met up again and everything clicked – within a few days we’d moved in together.”

Her radio career actually started in the air, not on air - Judie was a stewardess for Gill Air when a flight was delayed and she kept the angry passengers entertained. “By the end of the flight they were all smiling,” she said.

One of the passengers was a radio station boss who asked her to come in for an audition, and she hasn’t looked back since. Judie has also appeared as a features presenter on ITV Tyne Tees, and can often be seen at charitable events, and appearing in Christmas pantos.

When she does have a spare moment, Judie relaxes in front of favourite shows such as Desperate Housewives or Sex and the City. Like her favourite characters, shopping for handbags is her weakness. She’s also a fan of race meetings because she owns one leg of a racehorse, Getrah.
